According to a city spokesperson, SMPD officers responded to the disturbance and knocked on the apartment door. No one opened the door, and officers on the scene believed a female was being held inside an apartment against her will by a male suspect. The male and the female knew each other prior to this incident.
SWAT was called and after some time the female exited the apartment. Soon after, the male identified as John Gilbert Smith (DOB 07/13/1973) also exited the apartment.
Smith was booked into the Hays County Jail on several charges including Obstruction/Retaliation, Unlawful Restraint, Interference with Public Duties, and Terroristic Threat.
