“The Working on Wellness program helps participants learn and adopt behaviors that can positively impact their health and wellness,” Emily Grant, AgriLife Extension Agent for Kinney County, said.

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County AgriLife Extension Agent, Kate Blankenship, is extending an invitation to all area residents to “help yourself get healthy” by joining the “Working on Wellness Challenge.”

The six-week challenge will address body and mind and will be presented by AgriLife Extension Agents from Bandera and Kinney counties. The program is completely free and participants have the opportunity to win giveaways if they complete the weekly challenges.

“The Working on Wellness program helps participants learn and adopt behaviors that can positively impact their health and wellness,” Emily Grant, AgriLife Extension Agent for Kinney County, said. “Guidance is provided through simple activities even the busiest people can find time to fit into their schedule.”

The weekly challenges are designed to increase physical activity, improve food choices, ensure adequate hydration, increase strength and stimulate the mind.

Stacy Drury, AgriLife Extension agent for Bandera County who will co-present the challenge, said the online six-week program will be an interactive and motivating experience for participants to build a healthier lifestyle through key health and wellness principles.

“It is designed for participants to network with one another and ultimately be a support group to hold everyone accountable,” Drury said. Weekly activities include walking specific amounts, eating a certain amount of vegetables, stimulating your brain with non-work activities, and more.

“The final goal of the challenge is to complete all these tasks and make them a habit,” Grant said.

The online challenge will be hosted on the Working on Wellness Facebook group, and each week will introduce a new weekly wellness challenge. The program will begin April 15 with a video introduction and conclude on May 27. Join or find out more at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TAMUworkingonwellness/.
