Texas State SACA To Host New Spring Festival, FYG U + Gaillardia Fest

On Saturday, April 27, Texas State University Student Center’s Student Association for Campus Activities (SACA) will host Texas State’s Gaillardia Fest.

With the end of Texas State’s annual Riverfest after 16 years, the university is set to unveil a new annual festival to engage students in the community.

Named after the school flower, the new festival aims to attract a larger audience than ever and promote school spirits amongst Texas State students.

This year, Big Noise Live, in partnership with Find Your Grind (FYG) and UMUSIC (U) Experience, will bring the FYG U Music + Tech Festival to Texas State’s new annual spring event.

FYG U + Gaillardia Fest will feature performances by Alison Wonderland, DaniLeigh, Nightly and Malachi, and is free for students from any college to attend.

The event will be held at Texas State’s Bobcat Stadium West Lot and will include a variety of activities for students to enjoy.

The festival will bring things like “esports, entrepreneurial speakers, career mentors, scholarship opportunities and activities centered around music and technology to encourage students to celebrate their passions and the possibilities of who they can be.”

“We are excited to launch a national festival platform that truly connects college students with their passions and interests,” states Brian Rucker, SVP Big Noise Live, “while providing a unique opportunity for all of our partners to engage with students in a direct and meaningful way online and on campus.”

Texas State marks the second stop on a nationwide tour by FYG U, which will hit ten colleges. The event kicked off at Florida State on April 5 with more schools to be announced later this year.

FYG U + Gaillardia Fest is taking off where Texas State’s annual Riverfest left off. The annual spring concert and festival where students relaxed by the river and listened to music is being upgraded to FYG U + Gaillardia Fest, with the goal of attracting a larger cross section of the student body and community at large, and taking on a more cultural initiative, including various organizations, vendors, food and activities to encourage more people involved.

Lifestyle experiences at the festival will focus on student passions: gaming, tech, media and education where students can engage in the newest innovations.

Attendees can compete onsite in a 96-person esports competition, while student musicians show off their talents on the showcase stage for a chance to perform live on the main stage.

Additionally, the festival will include conversations with artists, music-industry executives, producers and writers.

Texas State’s Gaillardia Fest is an all-day event with the FYG U + Tech Festival portion beginning at 4 PM and ending at 10 PM.
