Traffic Alert: Southbound I-35 Main Lanes To Close For Traffic Shift At Posey Road In Hays County

SAN MARCOS – The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close the southbound I-35 main lanes on Sunday, May 19, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. so crews can safely restripe the I-35 main lanes in order to begin building the new I-35 overpass at Posey Road.

During the closure, southbound I-35 main lane traffic will be detoured to exit 200 at Centerpoint Road. Traffic will re-enter I-35 at the entrance ramp south of York Creek Road.

Road signs will be placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closure. TxDOT asks the traveling public to adhere to construction signage and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.

These closures are part of the I-35 at Posey Road project that will improve safety and mobility by removing the existing Posey Road bridge over I-35, and constructing the I-35 main lanes over Posey Road.
