June 16^th marks the 12^th anniversary of the death of PFC Kristian Menchaca, assigned to the 1^st Battalion, 602^nd Infantry Regiment, 2^nd Brigade, 101^st Airborne Division, was killed following an insurgent attack on the U.S. Army checkpoint south of Baghdad, Iraq, he was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Prisoner of War Medals. 

Kristian attended the Gary Job Corps Center from September 2004 to February 2005, graduating from the Security Officer Program.
