U.S. 183 Road Construction, Closures You Need To Know About For Friday, March 23 – 29, 2018
• Need To Know Road Construction Projects •
- FRIDAY (3/23) from 8 pm to 10 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between 51st Street and Harold Court.
- SUNDAY (3/25) from 6 pm to 6 am, and MONDAY through THURSDAY (3/26-29) from 9 am to 3 pm and from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 frontage road will be reduced to one lane between Manor/Springdale Road and US 290 in both directions. Also, Manor/Springdale Road will be reduced by one lane under US 183 in both directions.
- MONDAY (3/26) from 8 pm to 6 am, southbound Airport Blvd will be closed between Levander Loop and US 183. Also, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed over the Colorado River. Traffic will detour over 7th Street. Expect Delays. If heading to the airport in the late evening/early morning, please plan ahead.
- MONDAY through WEDNESDAY (3/26-28) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 northbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between E. Riverside Drive and Thompson Lane.
- MONDAY through THURSDAY (3/26-29) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed under SH 71 between Thompson Lane and E. Riverside Drive. Also, the SH 71 westbound to US 183 southbound ramp will be closed. All traffic will detour to the U-turn at E. Riverside Drive and SH 71.
• UPCOMING •
Beginning as early as late April 2018 (subject to change), eastbound Montopolis Drive traffic will detour via a newly constructed section of roadway that will run alongside existing US 183. Crews will remove the existing Montopolis Drive bridge and construct a new and improved bridge over US 183. Further information is coming soon.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.
According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”
The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.
The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
