U.S. 183 Road Construction, Closures You Need To Know About For The Week Of Sunday, April 8

Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, and utility upgrades. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

• Need To Know Road Construction Projects •

  • Saturday (4/7) and Monday through Saturday (4/9-14) from 9 am to 3 pm, the US 183 frontage road will be reduced to one lane between Manor/Springdale Road and US 290 in both directions. Also, Manor/Springdale Road will be reduced by one lane under US 183 in both directions.

 

  • Sunday (4/8) from 8 am to 3 pm, US 183 in both directions will be closed at Old Bastrop Highway. In addition, the crossover to the Wells Fargo will be closed during this time. A rolling road block closure will occur during this closure. Traffic will remain on the mainlanes; however, speed will be greatly reduced as crews work to quickly stretch a wire across the road. Police will be controlling traffic during the process. The rolling closure will be short, with the mainlanes being reopened as work is completed.

 

  • Monday through Thursday (4/9-12) from 8 pm to 6 am and Friday (4/13) from 8 pm to 10 am, southbound Airport Blvd will be closed between Levander Loop and US 183. Also, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed over the Colorado River. Traffic will detour over 7th Street. Expect Delays. If heading to the airport in the late evening/early morning, please plan ahead.

 

  • Monday (4/9) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between Loyola Lane and Technicenter Drive.

 

  • Tuesday through Saturday (4/10-14) from 8 am to 5 pm, Old Bastrop Highway will be closed at Carson Creek. Follow signed detour.

 

  • Tuesday and Wednesday (4/10-12) from 8 pm to 6 am, Manor/Springdale Road in both directions underneath US 183 will be closed. Follow signed detours.

 

  • Wednesday and Thursday (4/11-12) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 northbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between Technicenter Drive and Loyola Lane.

 

  • Thursday (4/12) from 8 pm to 6 am and Friday (4/13) from 8 pm to 10 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed under SH 71 between Thompson Lane and E. Riverside Drive. Also, the SH 71 westbound to US 183 southbound ramp will be closed. All traffic will detour to the u-turn at E. Riverside Drive and SH 71.

• UPCOMING •

Beginning as early as late April 2018 (subject to change), eastbound Montopolis Drive traffic will detour via a newly constructed section of roadway that will run alongside existing US 183. Crews will remove the existing Montopolis Drive bridge and construct a new and improved bridge over US 183. Further information is coming soon.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
