San Marcos opens applications for annual CBDG funding

Applications are now open for the annual Community Development Block Grant Entitlement Program. A total of $823,415 is available to support eligible projects and program administration primarily benefitting low-to-moderate income residents in San Marcos.

To be considered for funding, projects must satisfy a national CDBG program objective and should address one or more of the priority needs designated by the City: affordable housing, public services, or public facilities.

Applications may be submitted by a public or private non-profit agency, a public housing authority, a City of San Marcos department, or other government entity.

The City is not accepting applications from individuals in need of personal housing or other financial assistance.

Applications may be downloaded from the City’s website at http://sanmarcostx.gov/1496/Current-Open-Applications. Completed applications must be submitted to cdbg@sanmarcostx.gov by 5 p.m. Friday, June 18.

The City will host two virtual workshops on Thursday, May 27. An applicant workshop beginning at 10 a.m. will cover details of the application process, eligibility, and compliance requirements. Attendance is not mandatory for filing an application but is recommended.

A second workshop, targeted to members of the public, begins at 6 p.m. and will provide stakeholders with an overview of the CDBG program and the annual application process.

A link will be provided the day of the workshops. The link will be available at http://sanmarcostx.gov/1496/Current-Open-Applications.
