Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop County Residents Won’t Need to Travel for Back Problems

KYLE, Texas –  Dr. Vincent Wang, an expert in treating back and spine problems, has joined Seton Medical Center Hays and the Seton Brain and Spine Institute and becomes the only full-time spine surgeon dedicated to Hays County and neighboring Caldwell and Bastrop counties.

“Dr. Wang is a compassionate, well-trained, highly-skilled physician,” Dr. Fausto Meza, Seton Medical Hays vice president of medical affairs, said. “He is a great addition to our team of highly-qualified physicians and is going to provide a much-needed presence in Hays County. Prior to his arrival, patients needing spine surgery would often have to travel to Austin or San Antonio. Now with Dr. Wang on board, they’ll be able to stay in their community.”

Wang will treat the full range of back and spine problems, including back and neck pain related to disc problems, degenerative spine disease and spine tumors. He will provide minimally invasive spine surgeries, which use techniques with less impact on the body compared to open surgery.

“We hope to successfully develop a multidisciplinary spine program in Hays County that provides patients with convenient locations and access to quality health care services,” Wang said.

Prior to joining Seton Hays, Wang practiced at the Texas Spine and Neurosurgery Center in Sugar Land, Texas. He completed his residency at the University of California San Francisco, and earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in Developmental Biology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
