white-bar-575x10Austin, TX — The world-class pediatric emergency care of Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas is now available in Hays County.

Infants, children and teens can now visit the ER at Seton Medical Center Hays and receive the same high-quality care as patients at Dell Children’s in Austin.

Care guidelines were developed in partnership with pediatric experts at Dell Children’s, and when advanced care is needed, doctors at Seton Hays will use virtual care technology to link directly to Dell Children’s specialists.

Dell Children’s and Seton are part of Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system.

In 2016, Hays County was named the fastest growing county in Texas and fifth fastest in the United States by the U.S. Census Bureau. That growth is only expected to continue. Predictions show Hays County’s population increasing by 31 percent by the year 2030—from more than 188,000 people to nearly 274,000.

“As Hays County continues to attract more families, it’s important to meet our community’s expanding needs,” said Neal Kelley, chief operating officer of Seton Medical Center Hays.

“We’re excited to offer the quality care of Dell Children’s right here at home, in Hays.”

Rhett Reed, MD, medical director of emergency care at Seton Medical Center Hays says his team is eager to serve their community’s entire family—children and adults.

“While Dell Children’s in Austin will continue to be Central Texas’ only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center, Seton Medical Center Hays is a great and convenient option for children who need acute care,” Reed said.

As Dell Children’s draws upon a decade of service in Central Texas, it has earned a reputation as the region’s pediatric leader, providing children and their families a superb healing experience, Level I trauma, and outcomes that lead to a better future.

For a quicker, more convenient ER visit, parents can now book appointments online at DellChildrensER.com. This feature, intended for minor emergencies, allows patients to be seen within 15 minutes at the Dell Children’s campus in Austin or at the Seton Hays site.

Later this year, Dell Children’s plans to expand its quality emergency care to additional Seton sites, including Seton Southwest and Seton Northwest Hospitals.
