Hays County Commissioners To Discuss New County Wide Traffic Calming Policy

The Hays County Transportation Department has developed a policy for traffic calming measures on County maintained roadways.

The policy was developed after careful review of previous calming measures (speed bumps, tables, and buttons) and speed studies conducted by the County in various subdivisions.

The Transportation Department feels that a uniform policy with petitions is the best way to ensure that the needs of the community are represented and that good engineering predicates the type of installation the County performs.

Also on the this week’s agenda is the repair/replacement of a Hays County Jail Sewer line.

The Sheriff’s Office, Jail Division requests a budget amendment to cover the cost of repair of a sewer line in the jail.

Due to the age of the building, a sewer line collapsed and must be replaced. Attached is a quote to replace a 4″ cast iron sewer pipe for the bathroom area of the kitchen in the jail, at a cost of $30,539.00.
