3 Bobcats Sign With NFL Teams As Undrafted Free Agents

SAN MARCOS, Texas – According to news reports, former Texas State football players Adrian Bellard, David Mims II and Lawrence White signed contracts as undrafted free agents after the 2016 NFL Draft concluded on Saturday night.

 

Bellard signed with the Chicago Bears after starting 36 straight games as an offensive tackle for the Bobcats. He also earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors twice and was selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.  Bellard was named an All-SBC Third-Team selection byPhil Steele as a senior and a Second-Team selection by SBC Coaches and selected media, along with Phil Steele as a junior. He had 56.5 knockdown blocks and did not surrender a sack as a senior.  He tallied 57 pancake blocks as a junior. He also was on the watch lists for the Rotary Lombardi and Outland Trophies in 2015.

Mims inked with the Atlanta Falcons after being selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game in 2016.  Mims’ participation marked the second straight year the Bobcats had a player selected for the game. A preseason Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year selection, Mims recorded 57 tackles and ranked second on the team with 51 solo stops in 2015. He also broke up five passes as senior. He ranked 19th nationally and third among Sun Belt leaders with five interceptions as a junior. He also was on the watch list for the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award.

White signed with the Oakland Raiders after he played in the inaugural Tropic Bowl last January and recorded 15 receptions for 169 yards and three touchdowns in his senior season. He also was named the team’s most improved player during spring practice in 2015 after catching eight passes for 141 yards and three TDs as junior.
