Heritage Association Of San Marcos’ Upcoming Homes For The Holidays Tour

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – The owners of the five featured homes on the Heritage Association of San Marcos’ (HASM) upcoming Homes for the Holidays Tour are getting their Christmas on a little early this year in preparation for the four-hour event slated for Sun., Dec. 7 from 3 – 7 p.m. The tour will feature an up close and personal, inside view of five unique homes throughout the San Marcos community known for their beautiful holiday displays.

“Each of our homeowners is busy putting final touches on their decor in anticipation for the event,” said Marianne Moore, Holiday Home Tour Chair. 

Moore’s home, which she shares with her husband Perry, located at 2930 Summit Ridge Drive will be one of three featured in the Willow Creek neighborhood.  The home of Brenda Jenkins and Don Wallace at 2801 Summit Ridge Drive will be the second and Michele and Brian Burleson’s at 1211 Mountain View Drive will be the third. The downtown site to be featured is  214 Scott Street, owned by Anne and Clay DeStefano and Spring Oak Farm, owned by the DuPont family will bring  tour goers to the north side of town to 145 Spring Road.

Brenda Jenkins & Don Wallace 2801 Summit Ridge Drive

This Tuscan-influenced newer home sits nestled in a lush stand of trees.  The trees continue inside the richly appointed home including a 10′ living room tree in gold and maroon, dining room tree with red and gold poinsettias, teddy bear tree, children’s tree with ornaments collected over  43 years, bird tree with collection of ornaments from over a decade, “Man Room” tree and a kitchen ornament/cardinals tree.  Also featured will be a nativity collection.

Marianne & Perry Moore 2930 Summit Ridge Drive

This 2-story Mediterranean-style home  built in 2008 features a contemporary floor plan  and will delight you with Christmas trees galore including a 12 ft. Red + Green Monster, Fruit Tree, Green + Gold Tree, Purple Rattler Tree, and a Zebra-themed Texas Diva Tree. Also featured will be a Nutcracker Collection, and a Texas Capitol Ornament Collection.  All this plus a cup of mulled cider on a balcony with a view of the Texas Hill Country to take your breath away . . . NOTE: Tour is on 2nd story (main floor) of house which requires navigating approx. 20 stairs.

Michele & Brian Burleson 1211 Mountain View Drive

The Christmas delights start in the front yard of this home, constructed in 2002, with a dozen multi-colored light-wrapped trees – a winner of multiple neighborhood decorating contests. Featured inside are 10 ft. trees including a Burleson Family Celebration Tree, a celestial tree adorned from top to bottom with beautiful African American angel dolls, a “Celebrate our Granddaughters” whimsical tree, and a large Christmas village collection.

Anne & Clay DeStefano 214 Scott Street

This 2 story townhome was built in 1981 and renovated in 2009 and 2012. In addition to a truly unique floor plan and interior décor,  the Christmas displays in this home consist of some of the very best of the homeowner’s mother’s collection — spanning more than 50 years — as well as the homeowner’s who’ve been collecting  for more than 30. In addition to traditional Christmas tree and holiday floral displays, this home also features separate Santa, Nativity/Angels and Reindeer and Snowmen collections.

DuPont Family’s Spring Oak Farm 145 Spring Road

Spring Oak Farm has been home to four generations of the DuPont family. The original footprint of the home was built in 1902 with significant additions in 1956 and 2007.  Although the home has been occupied by only three families in 112 years, it has always been the site of festive gatherings and entertainment, particularly during the holiday season. Celebrating the season at Spring Oak Farm includes fanciful trees in every room, swags and garlands and glitter galore, nostalgic reminders of holidays past, and all the charm of Christmas in the country. A live Nativity including some of the DuPont family livestock pets will also be featured.

“The 3-7 p.m. window for the Tour is designed to give tour goers a chance to enjoy individual lighted displays on homes as they drive from one location to the next” adds Moore. “In addition to the personal holiday traditions and decor featured in each home, tour-goers will also enjoy Christmas music and get to taste special holiday inspired-food and/or beverages at each home.”

Tickets may be purchased for $15 weekdays from 9a.- 5p. at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce or on the day of the Tour at each of the houses.
