Price Center asking for art featuring faces or places

SAN MARCOS, TX – A new Call for Art is being put out by the Price Center’s Arts Committee asking for works that feature faces and/or places. The new two-month show will serve as a companion to Christopher Paul Cardoza’s solo photography exhibit “Uniquely San Marcos, The Martian Chronicles,” which will feature intimate and engaging portraits of San Marcos citizens.Both shows will hang from Aug. 1 – Sep. 25.

“Faces & Places” is open to all area artists. All media will be accepted for the new show, and 2-3 pieces of artwork may be submitted on July 26 or 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. A $10 application fee applies, and the Price Center retains a 20% commission on any works sold.

“We’re excited to be bringing Christopher’s display to the Center after a few delays caused by COVID,” said Arts Committee Chair Joan Nagel. “The Face & Places show should be a nice compliment to it,” she added.

The Price Center’s current gallery show, “A Place for Art,” is a San Marcos Art League Member’s show that features a vibrant display of all types of media, subjects, and styles. The 62-piece show is open to the public daily and a Closing Reception featuring live music, refreshments, and in-person visits with many of the artists is slated for Thurs., July 22 from 6-8 p.m. 

Rotating Art Shows are created, curated, and conducted by the Price Center Arts Committee and funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
