San Marcos 5th Graders Present The Lion King JR

Crockett Elementary School, in San Marcos CISD, is abuzz with the upcoming production of The Lion King JR.

A cast and crew comprised of 5th graders have been practicing since September for four upcoming shows. Produced by parent Amber Walter, she notes that this was a grassroots effort to provide enrichment for children.

100% of proceeds from the selling of $5 tickets will go to the funding of next year’s musical for 4th and 5th graders. It has also been a huge community effort with partners from Texas state Theater ED students, San Marcos High School students running tech for the production, local artist Christopher Barnett building the set and a local sewing guild making the costumes.

Many parents have also provided items such as microphones and sound equipment in order to provide this amazing opportunity for students. This production provides students with the opportunity to have a positive experience with a full length theatre production and the Lion King is a wonderful story with fantastic musical numbers that will keep the audience engaged and inspired!
