Austin Animal Center Offers No Fee For Felines Weekend
All cats and kittens come spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, a value of $300 or more.
A warm winter means cat and kitten season is even busier than normal at the Austin Animal Center.
The Center currently has 600 cats and kittens in its care, with more than 300 available for adoption at the center. The other 300 are in foster homes or receiving medical care.
With all cat cages full, the Center is waiving adoption fees on all cats and kittens June 16 through 19.
“Right now, we have the best selection of cats and kittens of any time of the year,” said Interim Chief Animal Services Officer Lee Ann Shenefiel. “If you’re looking for a certain age or color, or even a special type like a Siamese or Blue Russian, now’s the time you can find it.”
All cats and kittens come spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, a value of $300 or more.
Here are three ways you can help cats and kittens in your neighborhood:
- If you find kittens that appear to be healthy and in safe location, like a yard or under a tree, leave them alone and monitor them. Mother cats will often leave their babies for short periods of time and then return. Visit http://austintexas.gov/page/community-cats for more information.
- If you find a cat that is sick or injured, call 311 to report it or bring it into the Animal Center during operating hours.
