City Schedules Shred Day & Invites Hays Co. Residents

The San Marcos City Clerk’s office will sponsor a free Shred Day for San Marcos and Hays County residents from 9 a.m. to 12 noon — or until the truck is full– on Saturday, April 23 at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.

The limit is three boxes per vehicle. No business shredding will be accepted.

City Clerk Jamie Lee Pettijohn, her staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist residents who want to dispose of boxes of paper documents by confidential on-site shredding.

Residents are invited to safely dispose of personal documents and records such as old tax returns, processed checks, loan applications, financial reports and other papers that include Social Security or banking and credit card account numbers.

“April is Records and Information Management Month,” said City Clerk Jamie Lee Pettijohn.  “This event will help with home records management and publicizes the importance of managing records.  It’s like spring cleaning for your home records.”

All the documents will be shredded on site. Volunteers will be available to help unload material from vehicles. Bags and boxes will be returned to residents.
