Comment period opens for San Marcos Preferred Scenario Map

Staff Reports

The City of San Marcos is now collecting comments on the Preferred Scenario Map draft, a key component of the Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan. The map will help guide and manage future growth in San Marcos.

The map is available online at https://arcg.is/1fe5KS. An online comment survey map will be available through April 10. Additional community participation opportunities are scheduled, including in-person and virtual meetings.

  • A physical take-home toolkit of the comment map is available for pick-up in the Planning & Development Services Department. Copies may be obtained by emailing planninginfo@sanmarcostx.gov, calling 512-393-8230, or visiting 630 E Hopkins St.
  • On Saturday, March 19, the City will host an in-person pop-up public input booth at the San Marcos Farmers Market, 111 E San Antonio Street, adjacent to the Historic Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • On Wednesday, April 6, the City will host a virtual community presentation of the draft map from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A link to join the meeting will be available at www.visionsmtx.com

“One of the key components of Vision SMTX is to develop a city-wide plan for how to best manage our future projected growth and meet the goals that are most important to our community,” said Planning Manager Andrea Villalobos. “We invite everyone to participate in reviewing the draft map so that we can best plan for current and future generations so that all can live, work, and play in San Marcos.”

For additional information, contact the Planning and Development Services Department at planninginfo@sanmarcostx.gov or 512-393-8230. Community members can also reserve a virtual meeting with staff to discuss the map and ask questions.
