Pets of the Week: Meet Ghost & Jenkins

Staff

Looking to adopt or foster animals from the local shelter? Here are the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter pets of the week!

Spread the word to help these animals find their forever homes.

MEET GHOST

Ghost (48279861) is a 67 pound Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who can 100% pull off the color pink; it kinda makes him look like a cute little cow!

And oh boy, does Ghost love toys. Playing fetch with a ball, tugging with a rope, and chewing on a nice bone are just a few ways this sweet boy likes to spend his time.

Ghost is very strong (we did say he was 67 pounds) and likes to pull on the leash during walks, but he’s very smart and treat motivated, so he will learn to be a gentleman on walks in no time. If you want a big lap dog, then adopt Ghost!

He’ll keep a smile on your face every day, guaranteed!

MEET JENKINS (49046194)

The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter has a bunch of working cats, just like Jenkins, who are looking for a long-term job on your property.

Working cats are feral or unsocial cats that cannot be adopted into traditional pet homes. They’re used to life outdoors and prefer minimal to no human contact. However, some working cats can become indoor cats, in time.

Just because you adopt a working cat doesn’t mean they won’t want to come inside and spend time with you. When these cats come into the shelter they are scared and confused, but if you’re patient, feed them regularly, and take the time to show these babies some love, they may find it just as comfy in your home as outside!

These working cats are independent and low-maintenance. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and there is no adoption fee.

All they need is food and water daily, access to a permanent building or shelter to protect them from the elements, and basic care.
