While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

Closures are weather permitting

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting

Westbound traffic at FM 3406 to use new turnaround Bridge over I-35 until further notice. | Saturday, April 14 to Friday, April 20

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

I-35 frontage road right lane closed in both directions between Woodward St. and Oltorf St. Watch for flaggers. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27.

Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, April 23 through Friday, April 27.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. & US 290 E. | Until 5 AM Tuesday, July 3.

St. Johns Ave. closed at I-35. Detour to Huntland Dr. & Ronald Johnson Dr. | From 10 AM to 2 PM Thursday, April 26.

Northbound I-35 left lane closed between US 290 E. and US 183. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, April 22 through Thursday, April 26.

Southbound I-35 reduced to one left lane between US 183 and US 290 E. | From 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, April 22 through Thursday, April 26.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

Southbound I-35 left lane closed under William Cannon Dr. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Sunday, April 22 through Monday, April 23.

Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed approaching William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM Monday, April 23 to 3 PM Monday, April 23.

Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Stassney Ln. and William Cannon Dr. exit. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, April 23 through Tuesday, April 24.

Southbound I-35 right lane closed between William Cannon Dr. and Slaughter Ln. | From 10 PM until 6 AM Monday, April 23 through Thursday April 26.

Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between William Cannon Dr. and Stassney Ln. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Thursday, April 26 through Friday, April 27.

Southbound I-35 frontage road closed at William Cannon Dr. | From 9 AM until 3 PM Thursday, April 26 through Friday, April 27.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.
