BREAKING: 19-year-old San Marcos Man Arrested For Aggravated Robbery

The cashier provided police with a full description of the suspect including the tattoos on both of his hands and his clothing.

A 19-year-old remains in custody at the Hays County Jail as of Thursday in connection with an aggravated robbery, which took place on Tuesday.

Elijah Zuriel Lopez was arrested six hours after he allegedly held up a Stripes store in San Marcos around 3:46 AM on Tuesday. He was charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly lifting his shirt to reveal, what the cashier, believed to be the handle of a gun.

After escaping with about $70, the suspect walked northbound on West Access Road.

The cashier provided police with a full description of the suspect including the tattoos on both of his hands and his clothing. Store security cameras also captured several images of the suspect.  

Approximately six hours later, an individual matching the suspect’s description was spotted ten miles away at a Spirits Pit Stop gas station at 1214 I-35 South.

According to the police department, no weapon was found in his possession.

Lopez was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery; he was booked into Hays County Jail, Tuesday, on a $100,000 bond. As of Friday morning, he remained in custody on charges of burglary of habitation and aggravated robbery.

Police officers located the stolen cash at Lopez’s residence later that day. It was not reported whether a weapon was found.
