Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, and utility upgrades. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

Below are nine closures and/or detours you need to know this week about this week on the US 183 South Expressway.

BEGINNING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5 (8PM): The Loyola Lane crossing over US 183 will be temporarily closed for an estimation of one year. In addition, Loyola Lane west of US 183 will be closed for approximately two months.

• 9 Road Closures & Detours You Need To Know About •

• CONTINUOUSLY between Friday (2/2) at 8 pm through Monday, (2/5) at 6 am, the northbound 5th/7th/Cesar Chavez Street ramp will be closed north of the Colorado River. Follow signed detour.
  

• CONTINUOUSLY through Tuesday (2/12) at 6 am, Smith Rd (west of US 183) will be closed from southbound US 183 to just west of southbound US 183. Traffic will detour via Eastgate.

• Friday (2/2) from 9 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed at the Colorado River. Detour by exiting at Bolm Road and follow the detour signs to reach the Montopolis Drive bridge and access US 183 southbound. Expect Delays.

• Friday (2/2) from 8 pm to 1 am, the US 183 northbound mainlanes will be closed over the River. Traffic to detour via Airport Blvd to Levander Loop. Saturday (2/3) at 1 am to 6 am, the ramp to northbound Airport Boulevard will be closed. Traffic will detour to the exit at Bolm Road and follow detour signs.

• Saturday and Sunday (2/3-4) from 8 pm to 6 am, the exit to Airport Boulevard, Cesar Chavez, 5th, and 7th Street from northbound US 183 WILL BE CLOSED. Follow signed detour.

• Sunday through Tuesday (2/4-6) from 8 pm to 6 am, northbound US 183 will be reduced to one lane in between Smith Road and Hudson Street. In addition, southbound US 183 will be reduced to one lane between TechniCenter and Hudson

• Tuesday (2/6) through Thursday (2/9) from 8pm-6am, the northbound mainlanes of US 183 will be reduced to one lane from Vargas to Bolm. In addition, the south to north turnaround at Levander Loop will be closed and traffic will follow the signed detour route

• Monday (2/5) through Friday (2/9) from 9am to 3 pm, Manor/Springdale Rd will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Susquehanna and Pecan Brooke Dr. In addition, the US 183 Southbound frontage road will be reduced to one lane between US 290 and Manor/Springdale Rd.

• Wednesday (2/7) and Thurs (2/8) from 8 pm to 5 am, Thompson Lane will be closed at US 183. Follow signed detour route.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
