On Monday, June 18, Amazon will host Camp Amazon for local students at the San Marcos Fulfillment Center.

The Amazon Summer 2018 Robotics Challenge will run from June 18 to June 22 and is a STEM immersion experience. The camp was designed to inspire youth about robotics and science, technology, engineering and math education.

Camp Amazon will host 60 students from Goodnight and Miller Middle Schools. Students will participate in interactive STEM activities led by San Marcos CISD and the San Marcos leadership team.

The teams are comprised of 30 students each, who will have the opportunity to learn about the engineering design process, build future career skills, work with local professional engineers, create a competition robotics machine and work in a team environment.

At 1:00 PM, Monday, Amazon will announce a $10,000 donation to SMCISD to help create its first summer robotics challenge.

Students will attend breakfast from 8:00 to 8:30 AM and then work on the design and construction of a simple robotics project until 1:30 PM.

The Amazon Summer Robotics  Showcase date has yet to be decided.

It is interesting that Amazon would host a summer camp for middle schoolers. The investment in these students to develop more competitive students is amazing. I wish I had opportunities like this when I was in high school.
