UPDATED: Blanco County Investigates Suspicious Package Near Pipeline Worksite

UPDATE 6:11 PM: Bomb Squad neutralized the suspicious package. Officials have not announced whether it was active or a fake device. 

The Blanco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the scene of a suspicious package Tuesday near Chimney Valley Road.

The package was located on the Kinder Morgan’s Permian Highway Pipeline Project worksite; officials have secured the area closing off roads while crews deal with the package. 

Residents in the “immediate area” were evacuated; everyone else is asked to shelter in place until further notice.

According to a report by KXAN, one of Kinder Morgan’s workers discovered a suspicious device on the worksite, and all work has been halted for the time being.
