Buda Fire And Hays County Fire Marshal Investigating Fatality
Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – An early morning house fire in Buda resulted in the death of one female.
According to Buda Fire/Emergency Services District (ESD) #8 Chief Clay Huckaby, the fire department and Buda EMS/ESD #2 were dispatched to the 400 block of Overlook Mountain West at about 6:20 AM.
Huckaby said crews arrived on scene to a fully engulfed residential structure fire where flames and smoke were visible from all sides and the roof.
“Following a primary interior search, fire crews recovered one unresponsive female occupant,” Huckaby said. “She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”
While the fire was contained at approximately 8:30 AM, Huckaby said the incident will receive a full investigation.
“The fire cause and origin are currently under investigation by the Hays County Fire Marshal’s office in conjunction with Buda Fire Department,” Huckaby said.
He added his thanks to mutual aid from Kyle Fire Department and Manchaca Fire Department.
