Staff Reports

UPDATED: On Tuesday, Jan. 19, officials announced Phase 4 of the project would begin and extended the construction timeline into Feb. 2021. More details to come.

Construction on Wonder World Drive and Hunter Road is expected to end on Jan. 29, according to the City of San Marcos.

The construction that began in November includes two new pedestrian refuge islands, which aims to reduce crossing times for increased safety, updated signage, lane striping, new bicycle lanes along Hunter, and adjusted signal timing.

The city of San Marcos partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation to fund the project, which was expected to cost $529,832.

A large portion of the funds, $450,000, came from a Surface Transportation Block Grant from the federal government.

Residents should expect lane closures along the roads to subside around Jan. 30.
