Austin — Short and long term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.
Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.
The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

**Beginning Saturday, July 13, all northbound US 183 traffic will shift onto a new bridge over the Colorado River to accommodate the demolition and reconstruction of the existing northbound bridge.
The work will require a long-term closure of the northbound exit to Airport Boulevard, 7th Street, 5th Street, and East Cesar Chavez Street.
Northbound US 183 drivers wishing to reach those roads will continue north on US 183 to a U-turn located near Bolm Road.
After taking the U-turn and entering southbound US 183, they will exit at Levander Loop to access Airport Boulevard and the other downtown routes. In addition to this detour, a number of other travel routes will be impacted. Please visit our website for details.**

• LANE CLOSURE — 10/05/20 to 11/02/20 — CLOSURE
Monday (10/5) at 8 PM through Monday (11/2) 6 AM, SH 71 westbound right main lane will be closed from US 183 to E. Riverside Dr.
• RAMP CLOSURE — 10/15/20 to 10/21/20 — UTILITY WORK
Thurs-Fri (10/15-16) and Mon-Wed (10/19-21) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 southbound on-ramp to non-tolled main lane will be closed at Smith Rd. Detour US 183 general-purpose to Bolm Rd. exit, to US 183 non-tolled southbound on-ramp past Interchange Blvd.
• RAMP CLOSURE — 10/16/20 to 10/21/20 — UTILITY WORK
Monday-Thursday (10/12-15) 9 AM to 3 PM, Alternating shoulder closures on US 183 northbound non-tolled main lane from Purple Sage Dr. to Manor Springdale Rd.
• RAMP CLOSURE — 10/16/20 to 10/20/20 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Friday (10/16) 11 PM to 8 AM, Monday (10/19) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 southbound to SH71 eastbound direct-connector will be closed. Detour E. Riverside Dr. U-turn.

Sun (10/18) 6 PM to 6 AM, Mon-Tues (10/19-20) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 toll northbound left lane will be closed Interchange to MLK Blvd.

Monday-Wednesday (10/19-21) 9 AM to 3 PM, Eastbound Manor Springdale Rd. right turn lane at US 183 will be closed and north to south U-turn will be closed.
• LANE CLOSURE — 10/19/20 to 10/25/20 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Mon-Thur (10/19-22) 8 PM to 6 AM, Fri (10/23) 8 PM to 8 AM, Sat (10/24) 6 PM to 10 AM, US 183 southbound non-tolled main lane will be reduced to one lane from Gardner Rd. to SH 71.
• LANE CLOSURE — 10/20/20 to 10/23/20 — DRAINAGE WORK
Tuesday-Thursday (10/20-23) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 southbound right main lane and general-purpose lane from Manor Springdale Rd. to Purple Sage will be closed.
• LANE CLOSURE — 10/20/20 to 10/22/20 — DRAINAGE WORK
Tuesday-Thursday (10/20-22) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 northbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Loyola to Purple Sage.

Wednesday (10/21) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 northbound general purpose will be closed at Bolm Rd. Detour via northbound non-tolled on-ramp past Levander Loop to Smith Rd. exit
• LANE CLOSURE — 10/22/20 to 10/23/20 — BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Thursday (10/22) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 southbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from Hudson St. to Thurgood Ave.
• LANE CLOSURE — 10/22/20 to 10/25/20 — ROADWAY STRIPING
Thursday-Friday (10/23-24) 8 PM to 6 AM, Saturday (10/24) 6 PM to 10 AM, US 183 southbound to SH 71 eastbound direct-connector will be closed. Detour E. Riverside Dr. U-turn.

Long Term
• RAMP CLOSURE — 05/10/20 to 01/10/21 — ROADWAY BASE INSTALLATION
Beginning as early as this Sunday, May 10, the exit to E. Riverside Drive from westbound SH 71 will closed for several months. Detour to East Riverside Dr. via Montopolis Dr. and to reach SB US 183 use Patton Avenue U-turn.
• ROAD CLOSURE — 10/11/18 to 12/31/20 — PERMANENT CLOSURE
The signalized crossing of US 183 at 51st Street is permanently closed and the traffic signal has been removed. Drivers must utilize the U-turns at MLK and Manor/Springdale Road as an alternative to cross over US 183.
• ROAD CLOSURE — 10/15/18 to 12/31/20 — INTERSECTION WORK
The crossing of US 183 at Central Ave is permanently closed. Drivers will instead use the U-turns at MLK and Bolm Road to reach the other side of US 183.
• ROAD CLOSURE — 10/15/18 to 12/31/20 — INTERSECTION WORK
The crossing of US 183 at Hudson Street is permanently closed. Drivers will instead use the U-turns at MLK and Bolm Road to reach the other side of US 183.

The Techni Center Drive crossing at US 183 is permanently closed
• ROAD CLOSURE — 11/5/18 to 12/31/20 — ROADWAY BASE INSTALLATION
The US 183 underpass at Bolm Road is CLOSED PERMANENTLY to eastbound and westbound cross traffic and the traffic signal will be removed. Bolm Road eastbound traffic will detour via the south to north U-turn at Levander Loop to access US 183 northbound. Bolm Road westbound traffic will detour via a new temporary north to south U-turn located just north of Bolm Road to access US 183 Southbound.
