San Marcos To See Transit Changes Due To COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the City of San Marcos continues to monitor and adjust public transit services.

Starting today, April 13, “The Bus” is adjusting its operating hours to 7 AM to 4 PM.

Route 1 Hopkins/Wonder World is now being serviced by one bus every hour, which began March 24. Hours of operation have been adjusted to reflect the optimal riding periods as ridership after 4 PM daily has decreased significantly.

“We want to maintain some level of service for those who need it to perform essential functions, including going to/from work to the pharmacy and grocery store,” said Pete Binion, Transit Manager.

Transit officials said the vehicles are sanitized often and deep cleaned regularly to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Interurban Express 1517 service has been suspended until COVID-19 conditions improve. Alternate intercity services and schedules may be found at www.ridecarts.com.

Fares will not be collected for the remainder of April.

Anyone with questions about these changes or any aspect of transit service may contact the city’s call center at 512-478-RIDE.
