Early Voting Begins For Runoff Elections In Hays County

Hays County is holding runoff elections for the City of San Marcos City Council Place 5 and Place 5, the Austin Community College Board of Trustees and the City of Austin City Council District 8 position.

Early voting for the December 2018 Runoff Election begins today, November 26, in Hays County.

Hays County is holding runoff elections for the City of San Marcos City Council Place 5 and Place 5, the Austin Community College Board of Trustees and the City of Austin City Council District 8 position.

According to the county website, the Hays County Government Center will be an early voting location for the entirety of the Early Voting period for the City of San Marcos Runoff elections.

“We encourage all registered voters to exercise their right and vote in the runoff election,” said City Clerk Jamie Case. “Historically, local runoff elections have lower voter turnout than regular elections, but they are essential to the governance of our community.”

There will also be two additional polling places: Live Oak / Health Department and Texas State University LBJ Student Center.

Early Voting will run from Monday, November 26, to Friday, December 7. Election day is December 11; the schedule and voting locations for election day can be found here.

Running for Place Four are Mark Rockeymoore and Shane Scott, and for Place Five are Jocabed “Joca” Marquez and Rick Henderson.

The runoff results will be canvassed and the new City Council members sworn in on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. a City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins.
