While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 10/8 – FRIDAY 10/12

I-35 CORRIDOR MAINTENANCE CLOSURES

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

Closures are weather permitting

  • SAN MARCOS: Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between Center Point and McCarty Ln. The McCarty Ln. exit will also close. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7

 

  • Various closures northbound I-35 frontage road at FM 2001. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7

 

  • SAN MARCOS: Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane at SH 80. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 8

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between FM 2001 and Robert S. Light Blvd. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 10

 

  • SAN MARCOS: Southbound I-35 right lane closed between SH 123 and Wonder World Dr. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between Kohlers Crossing and FM 1626. | 9 PM until 5 AM Thursday, October 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Manor Rd. and Holly St. Ramps will close as needed. Sunday closure begins at 10 PM | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 10

 

  • Southbound I-35 entrance ramp from 6th St. closed. | Midnight to 5 AM on Tuesday, October 9

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Reinli St. and 49th St. | 8 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Manor Rd. and Holly St. | 11 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7 and 9 PM to 5 AM Monday, October 8 and Thursday, October 11

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Watch for slow moving sweeping trucks I-35 frontage roads between Slaughter Ln. and US 290/SH 71/Ben White Blvd. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7 and Monday, October 8

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane and left frontage road lane closed at Slaughter Ln. entrance ramp. The entrance ramp will also close. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane and left frontage road lane closed from Stassney Ln. to Williamson Creek. | 1 AM until 5 AM Monday, October 8

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between William Cannon Dr. and Chaparral Rd. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 8

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 8 through Friday, October 12

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Battle Bend Blvd. and Williamson Creek. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Slaughter Ln. | 9 AM until noon Thursday, October 11

 

  • The north to southbound U-turn at Slaughter Ln. closed. | 11 AM until 2 PM Thursday, October 11

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed by flaggers at Oltorf St. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Riverside Dr. and Oltorf St. | 10 PM until 6 AM Monday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 9

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed by flaggers between Oltorf St. and St. Edwards Dr. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 10

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Powell Ln. closed at I-35. Use Wonsley Dr. | Through winter 2018

 

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramp to Rundberg Ln. closed. Use another exit. Expect alternating frontage road closures. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 8

 

  • South to northbound U-turn at US 183 closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. and US 290 E. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road between US 183 and Little Walnut Creek will shift to new lanes. | Thursday, October 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Blackson Ave. and US 183. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11

 

  • Brooks St. to close permanently between I-35 and Tirado St. | Thursday, October 11

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, October 7 through Thursday, October 11 

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Gattis School Rd. and RM 620. | 8 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 8 through Friday, October 12

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 79 and RM 620. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 8 through Friday, October 12
