Hays County Commissioners Terminate The New Director Of Emergency Services

Hays County Commissioners began the search for a new Director of Emergency Services on May 1.

During their April 28 meeting, commissioners voted 4-1 to terminate the employment of Raul Reyes, Jr. Reyes was placed on paid administrative leave until the termination took effect at the end of day on April 30. 

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra voted against the termination, and no discussion was provided in open court.

The vote was taken as part of executive session item #28, which can be read below.

Executive Session pursuant to Sections 551.071 and 551.074 of the Texas Government Code: consultation with counsel and deliberation regarding all individual positions in the Hays County Office of Emergency Services. Possible discussion and/or action may follow in open Court.

Reyes was introduced at the new Hays County Director of Emergency Services during the commissioners’ March 31 meeting.

His first day with the Hays County Emergency Services Department was March 27, 2020.
