San Marcos Includes Bulk Junk, Furniture And Other Items In Community Cleanup

In addition to brushy waste, the City will accept bulk junk and furniture, recyclables and hazardous waste as part of the community cleanup.

The City of San Marcos will host its brushy waste drop-off and community cleanup for residential garbage and recycling service customers on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until the roll-offs trash containers are full.

The brushy waste drop-off site is also open this week from Sept. 6-8 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. to accommodate people cleaning up from the recent storm.

On Saturday, in addition to brushy waste, the City will accept bulk junk and furniture, recyclables and hazardous waste as part of the community cleanup. Residents will be limited to five passenger tires and two televisions per household.

People wishing to drop off brush and other “green waste,” as well as recyclables, bulk junk and hazardous waste, must provide a copy of a City utility bill and unload their own material at the site. Green waste that will be accepted includes trees or brush trimmings, leaves and grass clippings. Brush containing barbed wire or other metals will not be accepted.

The community clean up can be reached by taking the San Marcos Animal Shelter entrance at 750 River Road and following the signs.

The service is open only to residential solid waste customers in San Marcos. Residents are invited to load and take ground up mulch at the site as available.

Residents also have the option of using the new green waste carts to dispose of brushy waste.
