TxDOT, My I35 and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Weekly I35 Corridor Traffic and Road Construction Update.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.

Closures are weather permitting
- Southbound I-35 exit ramp to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) closed. Use the southbound RM 1431 exit ramp and utilize the bypass lane to reach FM 3406. | Until March 2018, weather permitting

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

Closures are weather permitting
- The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting
- Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, February 5 through Thursday, February 8
- Northbound I-35 frontage road one lane closed at FM 3406. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, February 5 through Thursday, February 8

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.
The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.
New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

- Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane at William Cannon Dr. | 9 p.m. Sunday, February 4 to 5 a.m. Monday, February 5
- Various closures in both directions of the I-35 frontage roads at Corral Ln, Chaparral Rd, Battle Bend Dr, Little Texas Ln, Boggy Creek St, Nelms St & William Cannon. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, February 5 through Friday, February 9
- Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane at William Cannon Dr. | Nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, February 5 through Thursday, February 8

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

- Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 & Woodward St. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, February 5 through Friday, February 9
- Alternating closures I-35 frontage roads in both directions at Oltorf St. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, February 5 through Thursday, February 8
- Northbound I-35 left lane closed at Boggy Creek. | 9 p.m. Monday, February 5 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, February 6

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.
The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Work includes adding a southbound intersection bypass lane to allow through-traffic to bypass the traffic signal, re-configuring the entrance/exit ramps, and realigning the southbound frontage road to add a new roundabout that improves traffic flow and safety.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.
