Ignacio “Rod” Rodriguez Retires After 49 years At Gary Job Corps Center

“I have had a great life at Gary, met many outstanding young men and women; I have been able to raise my family and have seen all the changes in the education and vocational offering that the students have been able to accomplish.”

 

Ignacio “Rod” Rodriguez retires from the Gary Job Corps after 49 years. Rod served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967 and then returned to his home in Seguin, TX.

After various jobs he found his true calling at the Gary Job Corps Center in 1970. He found joy in mentoring students starting as a Residential Advisor and went on to become a Property Specialist.

He stated that “I have had a great life at Gary, met many outstanding young men and women; I have been able to raise my family and have seen all the changes in the education and vocational offering that the students have been able to accomplish. I feel very hopeful for the program knowing of all the needs of young people are being taken care of every day by the Job Corps program.” 

According to Gary Job Corps, Ignacio will be missed by the staff and students.
