Trustees Approve New Assistant Principal for Hernandez Elementary

On Monday, June 15, 2015, the San Marcos CISD School Board approved Linda Hernandez as the new assistant principal at Hernandez Elementary. She has most recently served as the Dyslexia/ K-5 Intervention teacher at Hernandez, and before that she was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher from 2009-2014. Hernandez also taught third grade for two years at De Zavala Elementary in San Marcos CISD, and was a 2nd grade teacher at Odam Elementary in Austin.
 
During her first year of teaching in Austin, she won the Teacher of Promise Award and has been nominated three times for Teacher of the Year in San Marcos CISD.
 
Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish, with a Minor in Social Work, from Southwest Texas State University and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Texas State University, where she also earned her Principal’s Certification in 2012.
 
Hernandez says she looks forward to helping provide quality instruction at the school and “fostering a positive learning environment for all students.”
