La Cima, a master-planned community in San Marcos, Texas, will begin offering ¼ acre lot homes later this year.

The development spans over 2,400 acres with homes built by builders such as Highland Homes, Scott Felder and Wilshire Homes priced in the mid $200,000 range and could go up to $500,000 depending on the lot, options and builder chosen.

The master community will include a recreation center with an activity room, meeting room, 8-lane junior Olympic swimming pool and family pool, 10-plus miles of hike and bike trails, an elementary school, fire station, community recreation fields and a central park covering 45 acres.

When completed, lot sizes will range from 6,000 square feet to 11,000 square feet. The development will begin delivering additional homesites at the larger acreage as the market requires according to the developer.

La Cima has dedicated approximately 13.5-acres for the site of San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District’s new elementary school, which will be located in the middle of the development.

The SMCISD Board of Trustees approved the donation of the property in mid-July.

The development is located on Ranch Road 12 where it intersects with Wonder World Drive between San Marcos and Wimberley and is close to two private schools, Hill Country Christian School and the San Marcos Academy.

The developer has partnered with San Marcos Academy to offer “a Good Neighbor Grant” of $2,000 for new homebuyers whose children enroll at the school.

San Marcos Academy teaches students in grades K thru 12th with a boarding school option for grades 6th and above.

The 1,028.82 acres set aside for homes, 200 acres for commercial development, parkland/open space/greenspace acreage of 800.20 (with 700.20 of that being the Hays County Preserve) and 2,400 home sites equals a total average housing unit density of 1.18 per acres. Thus far, 60 homes have been sold in the community.
