League Of Women Voters To Sponsor ‘Civility With Controversial Topics’ Forum

How we approach topics for information, discussion and possible compromise is vital to healthy personal relationships and healthy community growth.

Concerned about recent shifts in political attitudes?  Unsure how to discuss your feelings without alienating your friends and co-workers?

The forum will take place at Thursday, March 23, 6 p.m. at Zelick’s Patio, located at 336 West Hopkins in San Marcos.

Dr. Rebekah Fox and Dr. Ann Burnette of the Texas State University Communications Department will be framing and conducting the discussion.

Local citizens have interests and strong opinions on many issues including the San Marcos River, day light savings time, the bathroom bill, women’s access to health care, immigration and other important topics including upcoming local school board, school bonds and the San Marcos bond elections.

How we approach topics for information, discussion and possible compromise is vital to healthy personal relationships and healthy community growth. Responsible communication is in everyone’s best interest.

The Forum will discuss methods to discuss controversial topics with friends and neighbors and suggest effective tactics.

The Forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Hays County, a non-partisan group of women and men dedicated to voter education and participation.  No political candidate nor any political party is ever endorsed or opposed by the League.
