Man Injured In Single Vehicle Rollover On Sessom In San Marcos

Police officers, firefighters and EMS responded to the crash at 3:39 a.m. on the 200 block of West Sessom Drive.

An Austin man was severely injured in a single-vehicle collision on Sessom Drive early Saturday morning that closed the road for several hours.

Police officers, firefighters and EMS responded to the crash at 3:39 a.m. on the 200 block of West Sessom Drive.

Upon arrival, the first officers located a white 2015 Suzuki two-door with “major” damage at rest in front of 244 W. Sessom Drive.

The driver was lying nearby and was transported by EMS to St. David’s South Austin Hospital with serious injuries. Investigators believe he was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Officers on the scene requested the Collision Investigation Team (CIT) to investigate the crash further. After the initial investigation, it was determined the Suzuki was traveling westbound on Sessom Drive when it lost control and left the roadway to the right.

The vehicle traveled across Alamo Street and through a yard before flipping and damaging the house at 244 W. Sessom Drive. The porch was damaged, and the stairs leading up to it were destroyed, but the structural integrity of the house was not compromised. No one was home during the crash.

Sessom was closed in both directions for several hours and fully reopened around 7:30 a.m.

Investigators believe speed was a factor and will continue their investigation to determine if the driver was intoxicated.

Saturday’s accident is the second CIT call out this year, and there have been no traffic fatalities in San Marcos this year.
