PROJECT OVERVIEW | I-35 Mainlanes and FM 3406 Bridge to Close for Bridge Demolition; Long-term Detour for FM 3406 Bridge
The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd.) bridge is closed for widening and reconstruction for approximately 10 months, weather permitting.
Closures are weather permitting.
- Drivers heading westbound will detour to the newly constructed FM 3406 U-turn bridge to cross I-35.
- Drivers on eastbound FM 3406 will detour to the southbound frontage road and use the U-turn at US 79.
- In addition to the detour, bridge construction will require overnight I-35 mainlane closures.
- During the closure, I-35 mainlane traffic will be detoured to the north and southbound frontage roads.
- Northbound I-35 will reopen by 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 for those headed north for the game.
- Drivers headed east or west on FM 3406 will be detoured at the I-35 crossing to the US 79 and RM 1431 crossings.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.
The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

- Northbound I-35 right lane closed between RM 620 & Westinghouse Rd. Ramps will close as needed. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, October 29 through Thursday, November 2

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

- Alternating lane closures northbound I-35 frontage road between Woodward St & Oltorf St. Watch for flaggers directing traffic.| Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, October 30 through Friday, November 3
- I-35 reduced to one lane in each direction at Oltorf St. The ramps to Oltorf St will also close. | 10 p.m. Sunday, October 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, October 30
- Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Woodward St entrance ramp & Woodland Ave exit. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, October 29 through Thursday, November 2
- Southbound I-35 right lane closed between US 290 & Slaughter Ln. | Nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, October 30 & Tuesday, October 31
- Various closures northbound I-35 frontage road between MLK Jr Blvd & Airport Blvd. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, October 29 through Thursday, November 2

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Work includes adding a southbound intersection bypass lane to allow through-traffic to bypass the traffic signal, re-configuring the entrance/exit ramps, and realigning the southbound frontage road to add a new roundabout that improves traffic flow and safety.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

- Southbound I-35 right lane closed between 51st St & Airport Blvd. | 11 p.m. Friday, October 27 to 4 a.m. Saturday, October 28
- Northbound I-35 entrance ramp between Barbara Jordan & 51st St closed. | 9 p.m. Sunday, October 29 to 4 a.m. Monday, October 30

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.
New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.
Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

PROJECT OVERVIEW: Work includes replacing the Slaughter Creek overpass with a new, wider bridge featuring one travel lane in each direction and a center-turn lane.
The addition a new southbound to northbound U-turn bridge, widening the southbound I-35 frontage road to two lanes through the intersection, and installing safety lighting from Slaughter Lane to Onion Creek Parkway.
