Austin — Short and long term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

• US 183 Short & Long Term Closures & Detours •

**Beginning Saturday, July 13, all northbound US 183 traffic will shift onto a new bridge over the Colorado River to accommodate the demolition and reconstruction of the existing northbound bridge.

The work will require a long-term closure of the northbound exit to Airport Boulevard, 7th Street, 5th Street, and East Cesar Chavez Street.

Northbound US 183 drivers wishing to reach those roads will continue north on US 183 to a U-turn located near Bolm Road.

After taking the U-turn and entering southbound US 183, they will exit at Levander Loop to access Airport Boulevard and the other downtown routes. In addition to this detour, a number of other travel routes will be impacted. Please visit our website for details.**

Mon-Fri (10/5-9) and Mon-Wed (10/12-14) 9 PM to 6 AM, US 183 non-tolled northbound will be closed at Thompson Lane. Detour US 183 non-tolled general-purpose exit at Thompson to access US 183 northbound and Airport/Cesar Chavez/7th St.

• LANE CLOSURE — 10/05/20 to 11/02/20 — CLOSURE
Monday (10/5) at 8 PM through Monday (11/2) 6 AM, SH 71 westbound right main lane will be closed from US 183 to E. Riverside Dr.

• LANE CLOSURE — 10/12/20 to 10/14/20 — DRAINAGE WORK
Monday-Tuesday (10/12-13) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 northbound left general-purpose lane will be closed from Purple Sage Dr. to Manor Springdale Rd.

Monday-Thursday (10/12-15) 9 AM to 3 PM, Alternating shoulder closures on US 183 northbound non-tolled main lane from Purple Sage Dr. to Manor Springdale Rd.

Monday-Tuesday (10/12-13) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 northbound non-tolled right main lane will be closed from Eastgate Rd. to Alleyton Dr.

Monday-Friday (10/12-16) 8 PM to 6 AM, U-turns at Patton Ave. will be closed. Not simultaneously. South to North U-turn Detour via Metropolis. North to South U-turn Detour via Montopolis Dr.

Saturday (10/17) 6 PM to 10 AM, SH 71 westbound direct-connector to US 183 northbound will be closed. Detour via Old Bastrop Hwy.
