Registration Begins In Hays County For Annual National Night Out

Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler is pleased to announce that on October 2, 2018, Hays County will be participating along with the rest of Texas to celebrate National Night Out Against Crime.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes law enforcement, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Additionally, it provides a great opportunity to bring first responders, law enforcment and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The event helps to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch / Neighborhood Watch, and other anti-crime efforts.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.

Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from various local law enforcement, emergency personnel, first responders and it also brings out your local politicians who will be on your November ballot.

National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support and participation in crime efforts;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations and
  
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

Neighborhoods are encouraged to register with the Sheriff’s Office by obtaining an application at  http://www.co.hays.tx.us/sheriff.aspx and with the National Association of Town Watch at https://natw.org/registration.

Please check with your local law enforcement or your neighborhood coordinator to see if your neighborhood is registered. Applications should be received by September 21, 2018.
