River, Parks, & Lions Club Tube Rental To Open On Saturday, June 6
 
Several river parks closed by the Memorial Day weekend floods will reopen Saturday, June 6 for land and river recreation use.
 
Rio Vista Park, Children’s Park, City Park and Bicentennial Park will all open Saturday, along with the Lions Club tube rental operation at City Park. Tubers are asked to leave the river at Rio Vista Park because of dangerous river conditions beyond that area.
 
Rio Vista Pool will be open for normal operation beginning Saturday, June 6 from 12 – 6 p.m. for the opening Splash Jam event. Then, regular hours resume until Sunday, Aug. 23.
 
San Marcos Plaza Park will open for the first installment of the 2015 Summer in the Park Concert Series Thursday, June 4 at San Marcos Plaza Park at 7:30 p.m.
 
Parks Remaining Closed
 
  • Five Mile Dam Park remains closed except for permitted events. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 512.393.8400 for more information.
  • Also closed are Thompson Island, Stokes Park, Blanco Shoals Natural Area, and the bridge at Ramon Lucio Park. These areas received heavy damage and still have hazardous flood debris.
 
Immediately after the floods, the City closed parks along the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers so crews could assess any damage and clear debris.
