8:03 AM: Here Is The Latest School, Office Delays For Hays County
Dripping Springs ISD
UPDATE 8:03 AM FRIDAY:
Dripping Springs ISD schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 12, due to weather conditions. This closure applies to the Child Development Center and all events and activities.
PREVIOUS: Out of an abundance of caution, Dripping Springs ISD schools will operate on a two-hour delay Friday, Feb. 12.
School start times and bus pick-up times will be two hours later than on a normal day. This delay also applies to the DSISD Child Development Center.
San Marcos CISD
San Marcos CISD will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions for tomorrow, February 12, 2021. As of right now, we will operate under regular school day hours for tomorrow, February 12.
Any change or adjustment to the school day will be communicated with SMCISD families by no later than 5 AM.
Hays CISD
Friday, February 12, 2021: The district will be 100% virtual for students and all staff will work from home. All afterschool activities are canceled. The district central office will be open to conduct required school board election activities only, in compliance with the Texas Election Code.
Saturday and Sunday: All extra-curricular activities are canceled.
Monday, February 15, 2021: The district will be 100% virtual for students and all staff will work from home. All afterschool activities are canceled. This had originally been scheduled as a student holiday, but it is the weather make up day for our snow day earlier this year.
Tuesday, February 16, 2021: The district will monitor weather conditions during the weekend. Presently, we are scheduled for a normal day on Tuesday but may need to make this a 100% virtual day if weather and road conditions warrant. We will contact all parents by Monday night with a decision.
Hays County
Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Hays County offices will be on a two-hour delayed opening Friday morning due to inclement weather. Offices will open at 10 a.m. February 12. County parks will open at noon.
Transportation crews are monitoring county roadways, bridges and overpasses for ice and sanding as necessary.
With the continued precipitation and freezing temperatures, particularly in the north and western parts of the county, officials believe the delay will give crews a chance to sand any area that could be a potential hazard. Use extra caution when driving.
Please note: anyone who had a second dose COVID-19 vaccination scheduled for Monday at San Marcos High School, their appointment has been automatically moved to the same time on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Visit haysinformed.com for more information on vaccines.

Texas State University
Due to the continued power outage and inclement weather in the Round Rock area, the Texas State University Round Rock Campus will be closed Friday, February 12.
Faculty are asked to inform students of alternate class plans. The San Marcos Campus will remain open for regular business operations and classes.

Let’s be honest why SMCISD cancelled classes this morning. They say they “assessed road conditions.” But they didn’t really. Otherwise they would see the roads are near perfect. The chance of rain peaks at 10% around 11am. So the roads are going to stay fine. Instead, SMCISD delayed their decision in order to see what everyone else is doing.
They punted responsibility. Now you’re scrambling.
SMCISD called today “inclement weather.” I called it winter with below average temps. At no point was travel dangerous.
This is just “Boy Who Cries Wolf.”
So wait… The kids couldn’t go to school today because the weather was too bad. But the high school girls basketball team still played a game.
Priorities?
