San Marcos PD Responds To Hit & Run On Charles Austin Dr.

The San Marcos Police Department is investigating a hit and run, which occurred Monday night around 9:07 PM.

According to SMPD Commander Kelly Bomersbach, officers and EMS responded to a report of a pedestrian, who had been reportedly struck by a vehicle while crossing the road on Charles Austin Dr. at Aquarena Springs Dr.

A witness stated she was driving when she noticed something in the roadway; she and other witnesses stopped to render aid to the victim while waiting for first responders to arrive. 

Police said the victim, a 24-year-old male, sustained multiple head injuries and was transported to Seton Hays for treatment. His condition is currently unknown, but while his injuries were “serious,” he is expected to survive.

According to Texas State University Police Department, the victim is not listed as a current student.

His name has not been released at this time.

Bomersbach said the vehicle involved is believed to be a black sedan, which fled toward Hopkins St. after the collision; it will reportedly have damage to its front end.
