San Marcos Shelter Will For Local Residents Open At 11:30 PM

Shelter Will Open for Local Residents at 11:30 p.m.

The City of San Marcos will open the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins at 11:30 p.m., as a shelter for San Marcos residents who want to voluntarily leave flood-prone areas.

“This is a precautionary measure for San Marcos residents who want to voluntarily leave low-lying areas and seek shelter,” said Mayor John Thomaides. “At this time, we do not believe there is immediate danger. If you don’t have to leave, please stay home. But we want to be prepared and able to quickly respond in case that changes. Bottom line, if you don’t have to go anywhere, don’t.”

No mandatory evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Weather forecasts call for continued rain and wind throughout the night, and residents are urged to monitor weather conditions.
