San Marcos, Texas State University Partner To Host Two After School Programs This Fall
Texas State University’s Recreation 2330 Class will supervise and engage students in games that teach skills such as team building, critical thinking, creativity, and more.
The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Texas State University’s Department of Health and Human Services, will host two after school programs this fall. Goal:POST (Partnered Out of School Time) will be hosted at Miller Middle School and SLOEP (Spring Lake Outdoor Education Program) will be introduced to Goodnight Middle School.
Both Goal:POST and SLOEP will meet from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 26. Goal:POST will meet at Miller Middle School, and SLOEP participants will be taken by bus to The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, 201 San Marcos Springs Drive. Both programs are free to all Miller and Goodnight Middle School students. Transportation home is available for a limited number of students.
Goal:POST activities will include unique games facilitated by Texas State University students, including Gaga Ball, 9 Square in the Air, and other games. SLOEP participants will experience hands-on outdoor education through scenic hikes, mountain biking, geocaching, and more.
Texas State University’s Recreation 2330 Class will supervise and engage students in games that teach skills such as team building, critical thinking, creativity, and more. Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation students will spend the fall semester learning how to teach and impact children though play in these after-school program.
