Sights & Sounds Festival Expansion And 2017 Presenting Sponsors

The Sights & Sounds of Christmas has spread “Christmas Joy” to the San Marcos community for over 30 years. It was founded on Dec. 1, 1987.

With the summer drawing to a close, Sights & Sounds of Christmas are gearing up for the holiday season.

On Sept. 12, the nonprofit organization responsible for the holiday festival, announced the City of San Marcos, Central Texas Medical Center, San Marcos Toyota and Trace will be the presenting sponsors for the 2017 festival. The City of San Marcos will be the title sponsors for the festival.

Central Texas Medical Center presented Sights & Sounds a Sponsorship check for $15,000

This year, the Sights & Sounds of Christmas Festival has expanded from a four-day event to an eight-day event. The festival will run from Wednesday thru Saturday the week of Nov. 29 and the week of Dec. 6. The 2017 festival will see new events including  the addition of food trucks and a petting zoo.     

The annual Sights & Sounds of Christmas 5k and Kids K Jingle Bell Run will return Dec. 9. But residents don’t have to wait until December for competition.

Paddle For A Purpose, a river race, will take place on Sept. 17; the proceeds will benefit the Sights & Sounds of Christmas Foundation.

Participants will start off from San Marcos City Park at 10 a.m. and end at Texas State Tubes.

San Marcos Toyota presented Sights & Sounds a Sponsorship check for $15,000

A check presentation was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 14, during the Sights & Sounds Foundation’s meeting. The meeting began at 11:30 a.m. at the Fish Hatchery Building in San Marcos Plaza Park.
