Sights & Sounds Calling All Volunteers For Jingle Bell Run 5K, Kids 1K, Route Road Closures

Over 1,000 walkers and runners are expected to participate in this year’s race, featuring a certified course through downtown San Marcos and the Historic District.

The Sights & Sounds of Christmas 5K and 1K Jingle Bell Run, presented by Kent Black’s BBQ and Orangetheory Fitness San Marcos, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 9 a.m. Over 1,000 walkers and runners are expected to participate in this year’s race, featuring a certified course through downtown San Marcos and the Historic District.

Volunteers are needed to assist with directing race participants throughout the course. All volunteers will receive a free shirt, hot chocolate, donuts and a chance to ride in a police car.

The race will begin and end at San Marcos Plaza Park, 206 N C M Allen Parkway. C M Allen Parkway will be closed from 7:30-11 a.m. Motorists are asked to be alert for runners on West San Antonio Street, Bishop Street, Belvin Street and Hutchison Street from 9-10 a.m. as those streets are along the race course. Police officers will be at all major intersections to direct traffic.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in holiday attire and will be given jingle bells for the race. Complete details and a route map are available at http://sights-n-sounds.org/5k/.
