UPDATED: SMPD Seeks The Public’s Help In Identifying Suspect Of A Series Of Break-Ins

The San Marcos Police Department is seeking the public’s help with an investigation into a series of break-ins that occurred early Sunday morning in two apartment complexes located on Old Ranch Road 12.

On April 21, at approximately 6:42 AM, a resident at Dakota Ranch Apartments (1818 Old Ranch Road 12) woke up to an unknown male in her bedroom on her bed and grabbing the victim’s breast, according to police.

The offender fled when the victim yelled for help. An investigation revealed that the offender had entered the apartment by the second story balcony. The suspect was described as:

– White or Hispanic Male
– Early 20’s in age
– Approx 5’3” to 5’5” tall
– Average build
– Dark brown or black hair
– Last seen wearing a white t-shirt, green letterman style jacket, and covering his face with a bandana or his shirt.

Police said two other incidents include a burglary at The Edge Apartments (1740 Old Ranch Road 12) at approximately 6:06 AM. Another resident at Dakota Ranch Apartments whose locks had been tampered with; however, no entry was made.

According to SMPD, nothing was stolen from any of the residences; however, the resident of the Edge Apartment several personal items had been gathered but ultimately left behind by the suspect. 

Police said there is a strong possibility the suspect in all three incidents is the same person; officials cited the proximity of the apartments where the three incidents occurred to be the reason. 

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect in these burglaries, is asked to contact SMPD Detective Travis Davidson (512-753-2315, ddavidson@sanmarcostx.gov) or Hays County CrimeStoppers (512-392-9949).

SMPD also requests all residents with personally owned video surveillance systems to review their recordings during the time frame and contact SMPD if they locate any pertinent recordings.
