Texas Military Forces and Area Agencies Hold Joint Exercise at San Marcos Regional Airport

The Texas Military Forces are partnering with area agencies to hold an emergency management exercise on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The drill, which will simulate a plane crash and hazardous material incident in the City of San Marcos, will take place from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Regional Airport.

“The City of San Marcos has put our emergency plans into place twice in the last six months during devastating floods. This scenario allows us to practice our response to a different type of disaster and drill with other agencies we are likely to work side-by-side with during a disaster,” said San Marcos Fire Chief Les Stephens.

Participating agencies include San Marcos Police Department, San Marcos Fire Department, Texas Aviation Partners, Hays County Sherriff’s Office, South Hays Fire Department, Kyle Fire Department, Hays County, Caldwell County and the City of San Marcos.

The City of San Marcos wants to assure residents that if they encounter military vehicles, a large number of public safety vehicles or what may appear to be plane crash wreckage that day, it is only a part of the exercise
